Interview: Owning a restaurant in the age of COVID, with Jacob Town

Jacob Town owns the fantastic Grover Beach, California restaurant The Spoon Trade with his wife, Brooke. They also run a bakery, Grover Beach Sourdough. Full disclosure: I’m a fan.

Ever since the coronavirus pandemic disrupted business across the United States in March of this year, the Towns have done everything they could to adapt their business as things went into full crisis mode. Just days before the second lockdown in California came to address the climbing infection rate, they announced the consolidation of their bakery and restaurant into one location as well as changes to their mode of service.

Joe Payne interviews Jacob Town, co-owner of The Spoon Trade in Grover Beach, California about the challenges of remaining in business during the coronavirus pandemic.

In this episode of Political Payne, I interviewed Jacob about the measures he has taken to keep his business alive and feed his community throughout the crisis, the logistical challenges of serving indoor dining during a pandemic, and the changes coming to his restaurant next month.
