Don’t be a #COVIDIOT

I must have recorded and re-recorded my first YouTube installment of Political Payne at least a dozen times. All respect to most YouTubers who make it look so easy, but I’ll admit, I struggled to find the right balance of news and opinion, the right tone to take, and the length and number of issues to cover in one video.

So, after a lot of frustration, I decided to have my first show be on the more opinionated side, especially considering the stories of people crowding local beaches this weekend in the hot weather. We need to take COVID-19 and coronavirus deadly serious, because it is deadly, but so many people are in denial about the predicament in which humanity finds itself. I don’t mean to be flippant using the term COVIDIOT, especially considering the people who have already died who didn’t take COVID-19 seriously, but I also hope it can be a splash of cold truth if maybe you found yourself making excuses or bad arguments about the seriousness of the pandemic.

And if I look sweaty and overheated in this video, it’s because I am! Like I said, it’s been hot all weekend in California, and my wife and I spent a good part of the day in the kitchen using our oven, doing food prep, and of course dishes. A great way to feel empowered during these trying times is to cook for yourself, which helped motivate me to finally get this video right. Thanks for watching and being with me here; there’s more to come!
